MANAGING PARTNER AND HEAD OF CORPORATE FINANCE

IAN PARSONS

Ian qualified at Deloitte and after working in audit moved into corporate finance advising clients on acquisitions, management buyouts and finance raising in addition to due diligence reporting. Ian’s experience is in supporting clients to complete transactions, growing and scaling businesses and support them to get ready to exit. Parsons was set up in 2009 and began by offering advisory services and the company has continue to grow over the past 16 years with the Wakefield office opening in 2011 and York in 2021. As a Liverpudlian, Ian regularly returns to his home city to support Liverpool FC. When not at a football match, Ian can be found walking, running and cycling.

AUDIT DIRECTOR

ANDY LUCAS

Andy joined Parsons in September 2022 following the completion of his master’s degree in mathematics from Durham University and an eight-year stretch in a top 10 auditing and accountancy practice. Andy brings over a decade of experience in auditing clients which have ranged from local, owner-managed businesses to internationally listed clients with turnovers ranging from £5m - £400m and he has audited household names including Boost Drinks and companies at the cutting edge of innovation including Paxman Coolers Limited. During his time in audit Andy has undertaken audits under UK GAAP and IFRS and has been responsible for clients with contract accounting, defined benefit pension schemes, investments held at fair value and complex business combinations. Andy has acted as the key point of contact for management for many years and has developed a thorough understanding of complex corporate tax matters including research and development and patent box schemes. Andy leads the audit team from a personnel perspective and the team has increased from six to thirteen, delivering recurring annual fees of over £600,000 and was nominated for Yorkshire Business Desk Young Leader of the Year in 2024. When Andy is at not at work he can mainly be seen at his beloved Liversedge Tennis Club, where he has acted as Chairman since 2017, listening to podcasts about the US Supreme Court whilst out running or giving back to the community, largely through his work as a charity trustee of Grey College Junior Common Room, his alma mater.

AUDIT DIRECTOR

MARTIN BENSON-MAY

Martin qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Big 4 Firm EY after graduating from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Economics. Martin has over a decade of experience advising and supporting businesses across Yorkshire and the North West, working with some of the region’s largest SMEs, as well as multi-national corporations and government bodies. Martin enjoys building relationships with his clients and working with them to achieve common goals. Outside of work, Martin enjoys spending time with his young family, keeping up to date with current affairs and travelling in Asia.

DIRECTOR AND HEAD OF BUSINESS SERVICES

STEVEN WOTHERSPOON

Steve has worked predominantly with owner-managed businesses since 2010 and has a wealth of experience across multiple sectors, some of the key industries being haulage, brewing, investment business', signage, professional services and venture capital. Steve heads up the Business Services team that takes responsibility for annual compliance services, transactional and technical accounting advisory. 'We build a real trust with our clients and invest a significant amount of time into getting to know them and their business so we can provide tailored and bespoke advice whether it be in regard to taxation, structure or general financial management'. A rugby league mad dad Steve enjoys following Leeds Rhinos and watching his local team Stanley Rangers as well as spending quality time with his two young children Mia and Jake.

TAX DIRECTOR

DANIEL ANDRECA

As Tax Director, Daniel oversees all functions of the tax department, with a particular specialism in tax advisory. He focuses on the complex issues faced by owner-managed businesses, their shareholders, and their families. Daniel is especially skilled in advising on a range of matters, including: exit planning (including management buy-outs), succession planning (including the use of trusts and family investment companies), management incentive planning (with expertise in various share schemes), remuneration planning and residence and domicile matters. As a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser and Chartered Accountant, Daniel combines deep technical expertise with a strong commercial perspective, delivering practical advice that adds real value for clients. Outside of work, Daniel enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new restaurants and bars, and maintaining an active lifestyle by practicing a variety of sports.
