Nimbus Care

Nimbuscare Ltd

Nimbuscare Limited is one of the largest scale providers of primary care in Northern England, supporting 11 GP practices in providing high quality care for over 250,000 local people. In 2020, the organisation was tasked with establishing one of the first NHS Covid Vaccination Centres in England, which rapidly accelerated its growth and transformed the way it manages its finances.

CEO, Maddy Ruff says:

We outsourced our finance function because it gave us the flexibility and breadth of financial expertise we needed in the face of very rapid growth.

The Covid pandemic has seen our contract income grow from a £2.6m to a £6.3m within a very short period of time. Our finance needs have changed along the journey and Parsons have been responsive in terms of ensuring that we maintained the level of support we needed.

Our colleagues from Parsons have integrated so well into our team. Their continuous and regular presence at our meetings means it’s easy to forget that they’re not employed by Nimbus.

Maddy also mentions that the breadth of services offered by Parsons has also been business critical:

We can call on tax advisory expertise when we need it, for example. We don’t need to go elsewhere for anything and that makes us more responsive and efficient.

Because they are so embedded in our day-to-day, our team from Parsons is able to look beyond the compliance and numbers to give us the strategic guidance that we need. That’s because they have a really in-depth understanding of how we operate, what our values are and what we want to achieve. We are a small organisation, run by GPs and with patient care at the forefront of everything we do. Having partners who share our values is incredibly important to us.

As a not-for-profit organisation, any surplus we generate goes back into improving the quality of care and services that we provide to the patients in our care. Our team at Parsons have helped us to agree on a set of principles to guide that reinvestment.

Parsons have been instrumental in helping our leadership team to improve our financial controls. Within three months we have turned around in terms of governance and financial controls – very fast. Sally has got into the nitty-gritty to increase the transparency of our finances so that we can quickly see where every penny is going and justify our spending.

The fact that Parsons is Chartered is significant because it lends credibility and gives us peace of mind. The Chartered status means that Parsons is a professional business and that the value of qualifications is recognized.

Without doubt, we certainly feel that we are doing things better for having the partnership with Parsons. Testament to this is the fact that we have successfully delivered around 200,000 Covid vaccines from our sites. Parsons has been instrumental in facilitating that effort. They are business critical to us.
